wateradept24 is the owner, founder, and administrator of The New City, which is depicted as a small city where the forum members are the citizens in the TNC comic. In the comic, wateradept24 is the mayor of the New City and bartender of the Base-13 bar. He is good friends with The Rhyno, gameman250, Warmaster, and OSanchez_NDPRS. He leads Command Strike Team (CST) #1.

Warmaster (formerly Warmaster999) is one of two Global Moderators of The New City on the forum. In the comic, Warmaster is the city's resident airplane pilot and president/CEO of The New City Airlines. Warmaster is rarely seen in a comic without his Fokker Dr.I triplane (the style of plane the Red Baron used in World War I). He is good friends with wateradept24, The Rhyno, and gameman250. He leads Aerial Strike Team (AST) #1.

gameman250 (referred to as "Game") is one of two Global Moderators of The New City on the forum. In the comic, Game is the city's resident zombie slayer and Albert Wesker impersonator. His primary job is preventing a second zombie invasion. He frequently hangs out at the Base-13 bar. He is rarely seen without his trusty Walther P99. He is good friends with wateradept24, Warmaster, and The Rhyno. He leads Ground Assault Team (GAT) #1.

The Rhyno (referred to as "Rhyno") is the only Forum Moderator of The New City on the forum. In the comic, Rhyno hangs out in various areas of the city, keeping an eye out for possible threats or invasions to the city and the citizens living there. Rhyno is partnered with Game for policing the city. He is good friends with wateradept24, gameman250, and Warmaster. He is second in command of Ground Assault Team (GAT) #1.

OSanchez_NDPRS (referred to as "Omar") was a former Forum Moderator of The New City on the forum. He was temporarily dismissed from his position following the first zombie invasion as there was little need for more people policing the city due to its diminished size. Omar frequently hangs out at The New City's Haunted House. He is good friends with wateradept24. He is a member of Command Strike Team (CST) #1.

Comics

History of the comics:

Prior to Season 1 of the TNC comics, the zombies invaded and virtually destroyed the entire city, leaving very few buildings intact. The first three comics of Season 1 illustrate the city as it appears before it is destroyed, how it looks after being destroyed, and then how it appears after being rebuilt. Season 1 was primarily a test of the comics to see how they looked and what members thought of them. These comics were one-liners of word play, pop culture, and commentary on news stories.

Season 2 will premiere near the beginning of 2011. Season 2 will have three multi-part comics, each with a unique story line. At the present time, it is unknown the number of comics that will be produced for 2011, but if time allows, there will be some one-liner comics similar to the style of those in Season 1.

Issues with InvisionPlus

"Despite the occasional down-time on the servers with InvisionPlus, the service seemed to be above average with plenty of room for customizing the forum. However, on April 2, 2010, all InvisionPlus servers went down. Web browsers would respond within a minute of being unable to contact the servers. By April 3, 2010, nothing had changed, other than the fact that wateradept24 contacted Scott, the owner of IP at the time, and received a reply stating that he was heading for the datacenter where the servers are held, and that the people there had been unable to ascertain the problem. At this point, wateradept24 created a forum after consulting OmarSanchez in regards to where a forum host could be found that was as good as IP, if not better.

By April 4, 2010, the IP forum would be connected with the message "setting up new server". By roughly 6:00 pm EDT, the message had changed to "still debugging new server". The new forum was still being constructed by wateradept24.

By April 5, 2010, the IP forum connected with the message "Got things restored, but need more web servers to prevent everything from locking up...adding that now, the expectation is that it will be done by the end of today." The new forum has been added with all forums previously used being created.

By April 7, 2010, the IP forum connected with a message stating that everything was working, but there was a Denial of Service spam attack. That message was seen around 12:50 pm EDT. As of 7:00 pm EDT, the message "Many sites are back online, most should be online soon...email us your site name to supportip at gmail and we'll check it out!" was displayed. The New City was submitted to Scott in the hopes it would be brought up next.

By April 14, 2010, it was discussed that members would be able to log into the offline IP board to check on old topics, but posting would only be allowed on the new Jcink forum. At 8:20 PM EDT, the IP forum was officially turned off.

April Fools 2010

wateradept24 — Wed, 14 Apr 2010 19:18:25 CDT

Prior to April Fool's Day, wateradept24 set up the forum to allow users to log in to an offline board, and concocted the following explanation as to why the board was turned offline:

Dear members of http://newcity.invisionplus.net:

Due to your administrator's failure to abide by the Invision Plus Terms of Service, the forum has been shut down until further notice.

The rules broken include:

* The distribution of private forums to members based on various contests.
* The use of less than ten moderators for a site of 52 members
* Operating a forum that only the administrator can see for image uploads
* Not meeting the quota of thirty new skins each year

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

After turning the forum back online, several hours later, all Invision Plus servers went down in an unconnected event.

Introduction

Its late August, 1917. As you sit in your dugout waiting out another German artillery barrage. The thunderous noise seems to last forever as you curl up in your blanket, trying to stay warm. After a few minutes, the shelling stops, and it is safe to go back into the trench. Not wanting to stay completely underground longer than needed, you step outside and take a seat on the makeshift bench.

Board 20 is one of the social boards used on The New City. It was created following the removal of the social boards that were satires of those found on GameFAQs. One of the most notable topics of this board is wateradept24's Alien Attack CYOA.

Board 20 was named after the labeling system wateradept24 used for boards that were not in use. Board 20 was seen as another unique social board that would set The New City apart from other forums.

Base-13 is one of the social boards used on The New City. It was created following the removal of the social boards that were satires of those found on GameFAQs. Base-13 is home to the first, and currently most popular CYOA, gameman250's Resident Evil CYOA.

Base-13 was named after several discussions about the number 42 from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series of books by Douglas Adams, in which 6 times 9 equals 42 is an equation in Base-13.
